Toxic Ingredients on Food Labels
Our food supply is no longer simply food. Not only is our food being genetically modified but we have become consumers of experimental ingredients and hazardous toxic substances. We wonder why the increase in illnesses both mentally and physically but what most are not aware of is the body’s rejection of these artificial and chemically based ingredients. GMOs and all of its genetic engineering are identified by the body as foreign substances, invaders or a chemical explosion.
Although food labels list all of the ingredients these are generally names which most of us cannot identify nor have any knowledge of their toxic nature. Codes are also included on labels to categorize, classify and identify.
Below is a brief list of the codes and ingredients with descriptions of there harmful effects on the body. I urge everyone to examine food labels, chart your reaction to the consumption of foods containing a repeat of certain ingredients and investigate them. Your severe illness could possibly be caused by one of the following ingredients. (These are some of the more common ingredients)
Allyl sulfide- May cause breathing difficulty, kidney, liver problem
Almond oil- Very toxic if not distilled to remove hydrocyanic acid, non toxic if distilled
Aluminum- May be associated with senility, memory problems, kidney problems, neurological problems, mouth ulcers, mineral malabsorption
Aluminum Hydroxide- May cause constipation
Ammonium chloride- May cause gastrointestinal distress, toxic if ingested in large amounts, may cause irreversible damage
Animal or vegetable shortening- associated with heart disease, hardening or the arteries, elevated cholesterol levels
Canola Oil- toxic, generally engineered from rapeseed oil, processed at extremely high temperatures, depletes body stores of vitamin E, contains trans fat, caused kidney, heart, thyroid and adrenal problems in lab animals, depresses the immune system, blocks enzyme functions, no studies done on humans for safety
Carboxymethylcellose- Causes cancer in animals, mild, mild irritant to eyes, skin and respiratory tract
Carmel – may be processed with caustic chemicals, sulfites or ammonia, on FDA list to be tested for teratogenic, mutagenic and reproductive effects, suspected carcinogen, may cause inflammation of the tongue, scalp lesions, dandruff, hair loss
Corn syrup- Associated with blood sugar problem, depression, fatigue, B-vitamin deficiency, hyperactivity, tooth decay, periodontal disease, indigestion and heart problems
FD&C Colors- Colors considered safe by the FDA for use in food, drugs and cosmetics, most of the colors are derived from coal tar and must be certified by the FDA not to contain more than 10ppm of lead and arsenic; certification does not address any harmful effects these colors may have on the body, most coal tar colors are potential carcinogens, may contain carcinogenic contaminants, and cause allergic reactions.
Free Glutimates- may cause brain damage, especially in children, always found in autolyzed yeast, calcium caseinate, gelatin, glutamate, glutamic acid, hydrololyzed soy protein, monopotassium glutamate, monosodium glutamate, pea protein, plant protein extract, yeast food and yeast nutrient; may be in barely malt, bouillon, broth, carrageeman citric acid, enzymes, anything enzyme modified, anything fermented, favors & flavorings, malt extract, malt flavoring, maltodextrin, natural flavors and flavorings, natural chicken flavoring, natural beef flavoring, natural pork flavoring, pectin, protease, soy sauce, soy protein, soy protein concentrate, soy protein, soy protein isolate, soy sauce extract, stock, whey protein isolate, anything that is enzyme modified, fermented, protein fortified or ultrapasturized and foods that advertise NO MSG, NO Added MSG or NO MSG Added
Fructose/High Fructose corn syrup- 1 tsp contains 12-15 grams of sugars, may be corn based, may cause gastrointestinal distress, elevated triglycerides, large amounts has caused tumor in mice
Fruit juice concentrate- 1 Tbsp contains 5.5 -8.5 grams of sugars; may contain fungicides and pesticides
Fruit pectin- may contain free glutamates (MSG)
Gelatin- May contain sulfur dioxide and or free glutamates; cannot be determined if from BSE animals (animals with mad cow disease)
Genetically Modified Organisms- genes are taken from one species of plant, animal or virus and inserted into another species in order to produce a desirable trait, such as disease resistant or hardier crops. No one knows the long term effects of eating genetically modified foods.
Glucose- May be corn based, associated with blood sugar problems, depression, fatigue, B- vitamins deficiency, hyperactivity, tooth decay, periodontal disease, indigestion
Glutamates- (MSG)
Hydrogenated vegetable oil- associated with heart disease, breast and colon cancer, atherosclerosis, elevated cholesterol
Hydrogenated vegetable protein- may cause brain and nervous system damage in infants; high salt content; may be corn, soy or wheat based, contain free glutamates
Isolated soy protein- highly processed; may contain free glutamates, may be contaminated with nitrates
Modified food starch- processed with chemicals of questionable safety, not adequately tested
Natural Flavors- may be chemically extracted and processed and in combination with other food additives not regulated to be listed on the label; may contain free glutamates (MDG)
Nitrates- form powerful cancer causing agents in stomach; can cause death; considered dangerous by FDA but no banned because they prevent botulism
Nitrites- may cause headaches, nausea, vomiting, dizziness; known to cause cancer
Rape seed oil- toxic; shown to cause lung cancer, may cause loss of vision, central nervous system disturbances, anemia, constipation, heart disease, low birth rate infants, irritability, respiratory problems or cancer
